Esther, Class of 2022: “Studying at Holy Cross really helped my confidence, especially with pursuing STEM subjects past GCSE. The teachers encourage an environment that allows you to make mistakes and learn from them without feeling ashamed - an aspect that’s really vital to learning. Because of the culture at Holy Cross, the students here are very supportive of each other, all willing to help - the definition of “girls support girls”. I have really enjoyed my time at Holy Cross and I’m not sure I would have pursued a Degree Apprenticeship in Software Engineering without the encouragement of staff and students. It really is the support of teachers that give you confidence to apply for Russell Group Universities and equally to choose other “unconventional” routes after Sixth Form. I’m grateful to have found those teachers in Holy Cross.”
Ruby, Year 13: “My experience at The Holy Cross Sixth Form has been wonderful, thanks to the incredible support from staff and peers. The pastorally strong environment has helped me build lifelong friendships and discover a passion for Maths, Economics, and History, which I hope to pursue in Accounting and Finance at university. The engaging lessons and constant encouragement from teachers have deepened my love for these subjects. I also had the opportunity to be part of the Head Girl and Heads of House teams, which developed my leadership skills and confidence.
Beyond academics, I’ve enjoyed participating in netball and the life-changing Kenya trip, where I volunteered, taught, and helped with construction work. The strong sense of community and focus on diversity and inclusion have made me feel valued and prepared me well for the future. I highly recommend Holy Cross for its exceptional educational and supportive environment.”
Rachel, Year 12: “My experience at The Holy Cross School has been one of great adventures and valuable life lessons. Since Year 7, I’ve learned how to flourish as an individual and develop important soft skills like teamwork and communication. The school’s embracing community provides a supportive system where students, including myself, find comfort and belonging. From the moment you step into the school, a familiar warmth welcomes you into the sisterhood that sets The Holy Cross apart. I particularly enjoyed attending the Korean club in Year 9, where I explored Korean culture and made lasting connections with other students. These opportunities made my time here truly special.
The Holy Cross School focuses not only on building a strong community but also on nurturing individual growth. From competitions and leadership roles to exciting trips like the adventurous camping trip I took in Year 10, I’ve been encouraged to pursue my ambitions and try new things. As a Year 12 student, the school’s support in preparing for my future has been invaluable, especially with work experience, guest speakers, and guidance from our careers advisor. Thanks to The Holy Cross, I feel equipped to achieve my goals, with memories and lessons that will last a lifetime.”
Lucy, Year 13: I’m currently in Year 13, and I have the honour of being Head Girl. During my time at Holy Cross, I’ve been taught by some of the most amazing teachers, made some of the greatest friends, and created truly special memories. Our school stands out because of its incredibly supportive environment, with teachers who always want the best for you, and where it genuinely feels like we are all in this together. I’ve had the opportunity to grow academically, especially in subjects like Maths and History, which I have always loved and chosen for my A-levels. Last year, I had the chance to visit Berlin with the school, which helped deepen my knowledge and understanding of my History course. I was also lucky enough to go on the Kenya trip, a truly life-changing experience where I learned, grew as a person, and formed closer connections with friends. Those experiences and memories will stay with me forever.
Throughout my years at Holy Cross, I’ve grown as a person. The school’s emphasis on character development, along with the many leadership opportunities offered, has helped me become more confident and responsible. I’m especially grateful for the school’s strong sense of community, where positivity and inclusivity are a priority. Being part of a Catholic school has also instilled a sense of faith and community, encouraging values such as compassion and respect for others. As I prepare for university, I feel fully equipped for the challenges ahead, thanks to the well-rounded education I’ve received here, as well as the life lessons and skills I’ve been taught. I highly recommend Holy Cross to anyone looking for a nurturing, inclusive, and academically strong school. I am incredibly grateful and proud to be a Holy Cross Girl.
