Charity Work
Giving back and supporting others is a key part of school life at Holy Cross. Throughout the year, students take opportunities to respond to world crises, raise money, and support causes close to our hearts. These activities help students develop empathy, a sense of social responsibility, and a spirit of community.
Examples of our charity activities:
Charity Book Swap – On Holy Cross Day, students raised funds for the Voices of Children charity.
Pyjama Day for Red Cross – Supporting relief efforts for Gaza.
Harvest Festival – Students donate specific foods requested by the Kingston Food Bank.
Breast Cancer Awareness – Wearing Pink in October 2025.
Delivering Joy Project – Year 9 students visited local care homes to chat, sing, and deliver gifts to residents.
Carol Service Collection – Funds raised this year went to Refugee Action Kingston, supporting refugee families.
Catholic Children’s Society Christmas Appeal – Donations of toys, clothes, and stationery.
First Give (Year 8) – Tutor groups choose a charity to raise awareness and compete for funding.
CAFOD Big Lent Walk – Students walk at least 1km around the school to raise money for CAFOD.
Oxygen Mental Health Awareness – World Sleep Day pyjama day.
Wear Blue for Water Aid – Supporting access to clean water worldwide.
These charity activities give students the chance to make a real difference while learning about compassion, community, and global awareness. At Holy Cross, fundraising and volunteering aren’t just events, they are a way of living our values.
