BTEC Business Studies
What will I study?
The Business BTEC course provides rigour and balance and promotes the ability to apply learning immediately in new contexts. Alongside a program that provides a thorough understanding of business concepts it also provides an opportunity for all students to practice cognitive, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, with a view to developing them to improve future opportunities.
Year 12 and 13
- Units include studying business, developing marketing campaigns, personal and business finance as well as optional units such as Digital Marketing, pitching for new business and investigating corporate and social responsibility.
- The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, and is perfect for students with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects.
What do I need to study the course?
GCSE Grade 4 in English Language and Maths
How will I be assessed?
There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic. 2 external exams and 2 portfolio based pieces of work.
Where will a BTEC qualification in Business Studies lead me?
Students who study Business Studies at The Holy Cross Sixth Form could progress onto a business related degree or Higher National Diploma. The course also leads students directly into employment in areas of growth such as finance, business, administration, media and management.
