Holy Cross are in the Jack Petchey Count On Us Maths Challenge finals!

We’re in the FINALS!!

Last week a team of our Year 8 and 9 students represented the school at the Jack Petchey ‘Count On Us Secondary Maths Challenge’ competing against 9 other South West London schools successfully getting through to the finals! Only 3 teams from the original 30 made it through to the regional finals.

The students showed phenomenal team spirit and incredible enthusiasm and we are so proud of each and every one of them!

In July they will compete again in central London against the best schools in the London area. Go Team HolyCross!

The Jack Petchey Foundation has worked in partnership with the Mayor’s Fund for London since 2014 to deliver the Count on Us Secondary Maths Challenge. It is a unique, inter-school maths programme for Year 7, 8 and 9 students across London, which aims to improve confidence and fluency in maths. Students practise in school and can compete in an exciting maths tournament against their peers, with the aim of reaching the Grand Final held at City Hall.

By combining a series of mental arithmetic and problem-solving games, Count on Us helps develop students’ mathematical knowledge and encourages enjoyment of the subject. The activities are designed and developed in partnership with education consultants, ‘The Maths Zone.’
