For the second year running, The Holy Cross School in New Malden leads the way as the top scoring non-selective state secondary school in the Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Richmond and Croydon boroughs! Our Progress 8 score of +1.13 places us 20th out of 6489 secondary institutions throughout the UK and in the top 0.3% of schools nationally for the exceptional progress made between Key Stage 2 and 4.
Progress 8 is a secondary accountability measure which measures the progress across a suite of eight subjects from the end of primary school to the end of Year 11 in secondary schools. The average Progress 8 score of all secondary schools nationally is 0. A score of +1 means that pupils in that school achieve one grade higher (in each qualification) than other similar pupils nationally.
On 23rd September 1931, 88 years ago today, Sr Christina and two other Sisters opened the Holy Cross Convent School with the first 5 pupils pictured below. The original house front remains and is the school's main entrance. Today, in 2019, with circa 950 students on roll, the school has grown considerably yet the unique characteristic warmth and family community spirit which are at the heart of this exceptional and outstanding school community, live on.
Congratulations to Year 13 student Amira Al-Najjar,who was awarded 3rd prize in the competition receiving a £25 Cass Art voucher.
